Ferries to France - Getting to our Gite
Our holiday cottage is about 2 hours drive due south from the port of Caen, 2.5 hours from Cherbourg, 3 hours from Le Havre, 2.5 hours from St Malo but rather a long haul from Calais (5.5 hours).
The nearest airport is at Rennes (2 hours drive) and Paris is about 4 hours away.
Speedferries - I used to recommend them but do so no longer do as they really are crap. You cannot get hold of them by email and their French phone number does not work. They do not deserve to have people use them.
Brittany Ferries - Sail from Portsmouth to:
- Caen (6 hr),
- Cherbourg (4.25 hr ferry 2.75 hr Express)
- St Malo (10hr)
- Possibly Le Havre in 2005.
Sail from Poole to:
- Cherbourg - (Fast Cat 2.5 hr, Ferry 4.25 hr)
